Hello Everybody,
I was studying the diabetes board every once in a while for a couple
of months now, but could not find any specific information about the
"Diabetes"-Condition I am struggling with for almost one year now. Any
help, idea or general direction is highly appreciated and very
welcomed!!
Since 11 months I have basically every single condition which would
make me a typical Diabetes Type II Person:
EXCESSIVE THIRST – Especially after eating certain foods (fruits,
noodles, white bread, … all the good stuff).
EXCESSIVE URINATION – Urine often has no color at all.
BLURRED VISION- got my glasses corrected twice the last 5 months.
EXTREME FATIGUE – I currently have a very hard time to keep up with my
job
… could sleep 12 hours a day. I had that for a couple of
years, but it got much worse the last 11 months.
Now, here comes the weird thing: my blood glucose level IS "NORMAL"
ALL THE TIME. Over the last 7 months, I reduced sugar/carbs intakes,
increased protein/fat intake and started exercising. Before changing
my lifestyle, my BG was between 95 and 110 (bought me a Ascensia Elite
BG Meter from Bayer and check it occasionally). Right now, my BG is
usually between 85 and 100. EVEN AFTER EATING it stays sometimes at
85. The highest level I ever got was 125.
Did anybody of you ever have a similar condition? Did anybody of you
all have any ideas what weird condition that could be??
All symptoms are sometimes better, sometimes worse. I feel like
changing my lifestyle helped a lot. Still, the symptoms usually occur
when I don’t exercise, eat sugar or too many carbs.
You also could contact me directly by mail: mike.porwe…@gmx.net
Thank you all in Advance!!
Mike
P.S. I am 31 years old, male & little overweight and Type A blood
type. Regular Office Job, pretty high stress level. I am having that
Fatigue Thing for a couple of years, but it got horrible the last 11
months.

How long after you eat do you test?
Eat 75 gr carb and test at 1 hour and 2 hour and see what happends.
Maybe you should visit your MD?
If your meter is plasma calibrated you probally don’t have diabetes..

Hi Mike
You left out the most important information – what did your doctor say?
The BGs you quote indicate to my unqualified mind that you aren’t
diabetic. The symptoms you mention could be many things – for example,
extreme fatigue is common to many diseases of the blood. I have one,
CLL, as well as the type 2, but it could be CFS or anything – or nothing
and just a dietary problem.
The good news is that, no matter what your problem is, the diet and
exercise changes so far can only have done you some good.
However, stop trying to diagnose yourself. See a doctor, have a full
blood count and any other tests the doctor suggests. Find out for sure.
I very much doubt that you will find yourself qualified to join us.
Cheers, Alan, T2 d&e, Australia.

@Alan:
Hi Alan,
Many Thanks for taking time looking into this! Maybe I was not clear
in my initial post, when the symptoms occur and when not:
- When I eat sugar (or too much carbs), I have the symptoms mentioned
- When I do not eat sugar (or too much carbs), I do NOT have the
symptoms
Therefore I am fully able to control my condition simply by
controlling my sugar/carbs intakes. What I am looking after is more
the cause of it. Diabetes II would make 100% sense, but there is
probably no way having it without the BG going to high.
I had a regular blood test done a while ago and everything turned out
fine.
I already scheduled an appointment with a MD for the CFS, but what I
found so far about CFS is that there is only little they can help you
with.
As far as I understand, almost everybody with these symptoms is
diagnosed as Diabetes Type II. Before I will go to the doctor with
those symptoms, I want to make sure that it is not Diabetes. Otherwise
… well, Diabetes as a pre-condition messes up your chance for
affordable health insurance for the rest of your life.
What is CLL?
Mike

What does your doctor say when you describe your symptoms?

At the risk of sounding obvious, stop eating sugar or too much carbs.

From what you’ve written, it is an unlikely diagnosis. Not impossible,
but unlikely.

What is a "regular blood test"?. Did it include HbA1c, a full blood
count (White, red, paltelets, lymphocytes etc), a full lipids panel
(trigs, HDL, LDL, total cholesterol) renal indicators, kidney
indicators?

So, get the health insurance sorted now – then go to the doctor. In the
meantime, cut the sugar and reduce the carbs.

Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. You don’t want it.
