Discussion of diabetes management in day to day life

Re: Eyesight/Constipation

Blurred vision was one of my main symptoms.  The diabetic nurse said that
it usually takes approximately 4-6 weeks for the blurriness to reverse.  My
vision reverted to its normal state after four weeks.

I am entering week 3, am 45 yrs old, and taking 10mg Glucotrol.  My Bg is
between 110 and 150 and I am eating a well balanced diet ( Meat, veggies,
water, complex carbos).  The first week I couldn’t focus my eyes beyond
three feet.  After the first week my eyesight reversed so now I can see
longer distances but can’t focus up close.  Also constipation is a problem
(really, no joke).  Has anyone else had these problems and how long did
    they last.

    Any advice appreciated.

Constipation usually only occurs with me when I am over-sugared
BG wise … and it gets SEVERE when I let the high sugar go too
long.  I’m sure it’s because my body is furiously trying to
flush the excess glucose from my kidneys and "robs" my body of
water to do so.  When "I" keep my sugars at or close to the
levels you mention (150 or less) I rarely experience
constipation.  Are you experiencing any other symptoms such as
excess thirst, dry throat, frequent urination, etc?  If
so, maybe your BG meter is not calibrated correctly.
