Since the bush crew has allowed the economy go down the toilet.
We see more and more attacks that are irrational and lies.
All I know is that what I worked and saved is being taken away from
me. Any alternative now gets my attention.
The only issues that should appear here is the ones on medical
care and medical research.
In my opinion these issues are not being dealt with properly.
I learned before I left my teen years that Selecting a political
stand without good reason is plain stupid.
We do not know how any candidate will work out. All do know
I will not gain a damn thing out of the political mess.
I probably will make my vote an expression of dissatisfaction

I’ve been listening to the CEO of AIG trying to justify his greed all
morning. It’s on C-Span right now. Yesterday was the CEO of Lehman Brothers.
All one needs to do is tune in and listen for a few minutes, and you’ll know
what one of the biggest problem is. Massive greed across many of our
regulatory agencies, and certainly across both parties. Sad really.

Watching the same. All of this negates
the non controlled society concept.
Too bad we have to learn by the painful
route.
By evolution we are greedy to survive.
Any civilized concept is to contain these traits.
The only real way to do this is to restrict the freedom
of those that do not adhere with reasonable rules.
We have a turnover of all people in about 50 years.
Then the lesson must be re taught.
We have had several events but all failed to
get the lesson through to the masses.
It looks like Mother Nature is getting the
out the 2×4 now.
As before, the older and weak will never recover.

I’d like to have None Of The Above listed as one of the choices
on the ballot.
Since it isn’t, a few people here may want to watch a video that
is at least somewhat relevant to which candidate seems better
for the people in this newsgroup:

It’s very disheartening for those of us who live within our means, work
hard, pay our taxes, maybe live long enough to retire, and then have to
spend our last years without some of the basics due to retirements being
wiped out, the cost of drugs etc., as these assholes like Sullivan, Fuld,
etc., making millions of dollars a year, plus hundreds of millions in
bonuses, go off on a recent retreat while the taxpayers are being shafted,
and they’re just a couple of examples. Sadly, the people that are supposed
to be doing the regulation of this human greed, are locked into the greed
themselves, so I don’t know where the hope for change is coming from.

I had often thought – the CEOs with their obscene salaries, hundreds of
times as large as the rest of us get, must find it frustrating that they
still get allocated the same or similar lifespan as the rest of us. You
would think some divine intervention would grant them a few hundred years of
living to enjoy their extra wealth…..

"Seems" is the operative word here. Here in Australia at least, the
challenger promises everything to everyone. Once his party is in power, he
breaks up the promises into two groups – those that will have to wait five
years or more to implement, and those that cannot be implemented at all,
because of this "unexpected economic change". At least here we are
completely used to the fact that few if any promises will be honoured.

I must have sent this by mistake. How, I do not know. I saw another
posting that I definitely did not send. The ghosts are around
again.
Elitism is so common in the US. We have components that are
the measure of out importance.
Economics teach us the financial system is a fly wheel
where adding a buck results in twenty buck in the money flow.
This system is unstable and the cycles of excess ups and downs
are expected.
Simply said the era of good times is limited in a free uncontrolled
system.
Many of us were amazed how long they managed to extend this cycle
It will produce a shrinkage until the excesses are shaken out.
The medical system is not immune from the correction. How that
will play out is unknown.
Read the details of the 1930′s. People should remember the results on
our political systems and the resulting disasters.

Yes, I’m sure they feel that they are "worthy" of many more years than the
rest of us. It must really piss them off when they get old and realize that
they can’t take it with them. I imagine that many of them are stored at the
Cryonics Institute.

Oh, Henry, you’ve gotten too cynical! Unfortunately, your cynicism is firmly
grounded in fact. I think it’s the same for all of us. I am sick and tired
of the rubbish that is being spouted at us. All well, election day is the
14th and everything will return to normal.

It may be worthwhile to suggest that they contribute to medical research
intended to help people live longer. At least something useful should
come out of such research.

Don’t you wish Gregory Hare could be sentenced to donate at least
one kidney (preferably two) instead?

Nick. Support severely wounded and disabled Veterans and their families!
I’ve known US vets who served as far back as the Spanish American War.
They are all my heroes! Thank a Veteran and Support Our Troops.
You are not forgotten. Thanks ! ! ~Semper Fi~

I just had an image – fast forward 50 years Foreman at Cryonics
Institute saying " with all these takeovers and the increased rents
we’re going to have to switch off that CEO section they no longer are
making us a profit" :-)

Some do. Lee Iacocca is a big contributor to diabetes research, and is helping
fund Dr. Faustman’s work at MGH.

Funny isn’t it here and in Canada and the UK we can have an election in
a couple of months in th U.S. it’s like breeding an elephant lots of
noise and seems to take forever. Must be sponsored by the media there.
Seems that the length of time doesn’t improve the result tho.

I had the impression that in the US you have the option of a write in
candidate, or is this only on specific ballots?.
Is drawing, and ticking a box with "None of The Above" to show voter
dis-satisfaction likely to cause the vote to be disallowed as a spoiled
ballot?
Is write in capability available with electronic only polling booths?
