Most news of that hits the media (radio, TV, internet, newspapers)
ultimately stems from press releases from some company trying to raise
money or raise its stock price and is therefore less than useless. I
have attached the story from the above link below because the last
sentence gave me both a chuckle and a bit of hope.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.- Home Diagnostics Inc. said Tuesday it received
U.S. approval to market a portable blood-sugar testing device for
diabetes patients.
The company said its True2go product is the smallest blood glucose meter
in the world. Diabetes patients use the devices to measure sugar from
their blood samples, which are taken on tiny test strips.
The Food and Drug Administration approved the True2go as well as another
glucose meter called TRUEresult.
The company said both products provide test results in about 4 seconds
using as little as a half microliter of blood.
Shares of Home Diagnostics Inc. fell 3 cents Wednesday to close at $9.38.
