    .
Does this community know about the newsgroups set up for
biology researchers (and some of their students) to contact each
    other?

Does it know about the distributed computing networks that
allow you to run programs in the background on your computer
    to help medical research?

I’ve found even more, but those look like a good start.

Are they interested in climate prediction?

You can use the same computer to help more than one
BOINC project; mine’s currently participating in six
active projects, and I’m considering adding another one
after that project finishes beta test, since that one’s already
trying to help some diabetes researchers.
