Has anyone had any experience with Diabetes and Vegetarians. I
gave up meat five years ago now as I have also had two heart
attacks. I am having some trouble keeping my diabetes under
control. Particularly, my am reading can be all over the place.
I am wondering about the value of long-term insulin in the
evening after eating a veg meal because I am often running with
a normal reading by bed time.

My fiance is vegetarian so now I eat vegetarian all the time. I havent
really had any new problems because of the vegetarian diet. By the way,
we eat dairy products too. Maybe you should keep a diary of what you eat
and visit a dietician and your doctor. They may be able to give you some
insight if you dont notice some trend yourself that could be causing the
problem.

I tend to be vegetarian, though not a true ‘vegans.’ I took
it up some 16-17 years ago, and have had *no* trouble with it.
In fact, my doctor loves it. My cholestrol level is way under
problem levels, so that’s a plus.
Can’t help you with the insulin. Perhaps, you should discuss
this with your doctor?
