When I received my Blue Cross/Blue Shield bill this month, it had a
brochure in it which had some good news for Massachusetts subscribers
pertaining to coverage for blood glucose monitoring testing strips.
The brochure read as follows:

New Benefits for Blood Glucose Monitoring Testing Strips
A new Massachusetts state law has been enacted which mandates coverage
for materials used to test for the presence of sugar (for example,
chemstrip bG, dextrostix and glucostix). Coverage for this benefit
is retroactive to July 1, 1994. There are certain procedures to
follow when submitting bills and claims for reimbursement for these
items:
o Submit your claims for reimbursement on a Subscriber Claim
Form, making sure to complete all the information requested
on the form. If you need forms, please call us at
1-800-822-2700, and we will send them to you.
o Be sure to attach the paid receipts to the claim form.
You will be reimbursed in accordance with the benefits
provided by your contract (deductibles and co-insurance
may apply).
