Discussion of diabetes management in day to day life

Acarbose, Precose, Miglitol for Type II?

Need any information  on these two  drugs with regards to availability
and effectivness and price.

I saw this mention in the May issue of Diabetes Forecast.

                           Thanks for any info… Greg

Acarbose (Precose by Bayer) is FDA approved and available.
It is the first drug of its kind – a glucosidase inhibitor.
Studies show it has good efficacy in reducing glycosylation
of hemoglobin in type II diabetics.
Glimiperide (Amaryl) is a new sulfonylurea that also just
got FDA approval.  Coming soon are tolrestat, miglitol,
    and troglitazone.
