Possible glucose overdose?

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the risks are if any, of a
person suffering symptoms similar to hypoglycemia being injected with
glucose because the attending physician believed their symptoms were
due to low blood sugar (even though their blood sugar was normal & they
were suffering from something else)?

TIA!

Use of dextrose in hypos.

I am the one that had many emergencies rn from hypos.
i can only relate my experiences.

I was put on a popular drug and in a short time
I was having emergency hypos very often.
I was aware of dosage of insulin and was
on a normal routine.

The hypos as they develop may make you in a very
abnormal mental state.  Like the room spinning and
you trying to hang on.   Or aware of a developing one
and really tearing things up grabbing for any food in sight.
Then to be found two hours later on the floor,  The
first strip did not read as per medic.

The medics usually use a dextrose IV  and it usually
revives me on the hospital wagon.   That injection
is for a trained medic and they do test to verify it is
a low glucose condition. Usually oxygen is administered.

When you are able to swallow you can use oral glucose
like orange juice or glucose tablets.  If recovery is not immediate
call 911.

It is judgement call by your helper when to use glucagon.
They must be skilled in it’s preparation and injection.
A person trained in it’s use.

In the case where the hypos are severe it is wise to call 911 and
let them do the job   A patient that is near being unconscious can
be a severe problem in a nightmare state.  It is hard to explain
the state.  I knew I was in trouble but was helpless.  and fighting
for my existence.

NOW the is cause for the hypo problem.  In the normal
person, they have a glucose release when the low glucose
thing starts.  so they have some minor symptoms.  It is best to
have some glucose tablets around.  After much time I have decided
I prefer the glucose.  I chew up the tablets and follow with a lot of
liquid.  Candy has some undefined features. I dropped it.

When you take some diabetic drugs, they work by slowing
or inhibiting your normal glucose releases.  YOUR  protection
against hypos is this glucose release. People vary in the action of
these items.  They shut down my protection totally.   We need a better
explanation of these items so they can be used properly.  The buzz
words do not cut it.

Anyway I am still alive and the usual nut.

They have  found me under a running earth mover,  on ,my driveway
on and on.   The story gets boring .

Some need to be careful in offering exact advice.  Diabetes
is not one condition. Is it YMMV of something like that.

                                                Guy

Serenity, or whatever you call yourself, stevia is not legal in the United
States.  It is worthless to a diabetic, and has been the subject of many
heated discussions on this forum.  Please take your disgustion elsewhere.

Uh-oh.  Lots of any kind of food especially fruit is not advisable for
type 2 diabetics.

Those who are using the diabetic 2PD-OMER Approach would have kept
their lunch at the same amount in terms of weight even with the
inclusion of apricots.

Eating healthy thereby being healthier increases hunger, which is one’s
healthy appetite.

In truth, the reason you ate one was because of how you were dealing
with being hungrier.

You were so bothered by your hunger that you decided unconsciously that
you would not put up with it and proceeded to eat to drive it away.

> I had to force myself to put the bag away. Then I decided

Not a surprise.

Anyone can overeat to the point of elevating their blood glucose
inordinately.

Actually, you need to befriend your hunger.  The healthier you become,
the hungrier you will be.  Again, hunger is a healthy appetite.

Three truths about hunger:

(1) No one has every died from hunger.  People do die from starvation.
People dying from starvation are **not** hungry.

(2) "Hunger is the best pickle (seasoning)" — Benjamin Franklin

(3) Hunger is a healthy person as a canary is to a coal miner.  If you
lose your hunger without eating more, there is something wrong (cancer,
AIDS, tuberculosis, et cetera).

In truth, hunger is a blessing:

"Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied." — LORD
Jesus Christ (Luke 6:21)

"The laborer’s appetite works for him; his hunger drives him on." —
King Solomon (Proverbs 16:26)

Yes… thank and praise HIM always.  Laus Deo !

Would suggest you ask your doctor(s) to supervise your use of the
diabetic 2PD-OMER Approach.

> So what can I chomp on mid-afternoon?

When you find yourself unable to put up with your hunger in between
smaller meals, it would be wise for you to find things to do instead of
things to eat.  Let your work be your food instead of snacks outside of
meals.

"My food is to do the will of HIM who sent ME and to finish HIS work."
— LORD Jesus Christ (John 4:34)

No. Work.

No. Work.

Take them to your local homeless shelter.

Depends on how much you are already eating.

Again, take them to your local homeless shelter.

May Christ Jesus’ peace be with you, dear neighbor Julana.

20 lbs in one month is really very rapid especially if this is
happening without doctor supervision. How are you doing this ?

Greater than 100 mg/dL is abnormal.

Then there is no need to repeat the testing.  Instead, would suggest
you devote your energies to losing all your visceral adipocytes in
order to possibly secure a cure.
