accuchek meters

My insurance has changed and I need to get an Accuchek meter.  I have
been using Glucometer Elite/Ascensia Elite since being diagnosed 7
years ago (type 2).  Which of the Accuchek meters would people
recommend, as the strips/drums for all of them will be the same price
to me because of the insurance.  I like something small, portable, and
accurate.  I don’t care about being able to download info, etc.  I
just need to see what my reading is at a particular time.  I take only
one shot of Lantus in the evening, so I’m not basing what I eat or
amount of insulin on the readings.

Thanks,
Sandy

Is diarrhea related to diabeies?

My mother-in-law has type 2 diabetes and has had diarrhea with a great
deak of weight loss.  She used to have my husband as her loving
caretaker, but now he is gone. He fell while taking is daily walk and
bled into a space between his skull and brain. After surgery we held a
3 week vigle at his bedside before he passed away. I must say they
worked together at a Mom and Pop Napa store for 50 years and many
years after retirement. Her stress level is as high as they get and so
has her old problem with diarrhea. I am now attempting to find
everything about diarrhea as it relates to diabetes. Please help us
give what comfort we can give her.

Thank you

Fast insulin for T2s?

All the discussion I’ve seen about using fast-acting insulin in
conjunction with meals has been about/by T1s (AFIK).  Is this ever done
for T2s?  If not, is that because (a) it doesn’t work (b) it’s a Bad
Idea becaue _________ (c) people can’t stand the injections (d) I want
to phone a friends.
