I need help with a friend that has diabetes.  She is 18 years old and
will not take care of herself.  She has tried the insulin pump, put took
herself off, and she doesn’t listen to her doctor when he suggests new
dietary techniques.  She is very much in denial and thinks that diabetes
will go away by itself.  She has developed a dark mark on her leg, and it
keeps getting worse.  Chemotherapy doesn’t work.  I would like anyone out
there that has diabetes and can give her words of wisdom, or advice, or
just let her know that she is not alone (remember she is 18…she thinks
she is ten feet tall and bullet proof). I have a feeling that if somebody
or something medically doesn’t make a difference in her life soon,
diabetes will kill her.  I want people who have diabetes…that

Would like to know now that I’am a Diabetic,if
the Pill that I have been perscribed-(Glyburide 2.5MG)
is the last Type of Pill that is in the list of Pills to take before
they put me on the Insluin?

I am writing a paper on marketing energy bars to diabetics and would
appreciate and advice or information concerning where to sell them, how
to educate diabetics about their benefits (high in carbohydrates,
sustained energy, etc.).  Any suggestions are welcome.

I’ve had colitis for quite a while and until recently it’s been well
controlled.  Glucophage works quite well but when it combines with a colitis
flare-up, life can be hell.  Before becoming diabetic, Ensure plus gatoraid
was enough to speed recovery.  The sugar in Gatoraid is not welcome now,
though.  Surprisingly, my MDs do not know of a non-sugar replacement for
Gatoraid.

Does anyone know of a nutrasweet-containing oral rehydration solution, or
have a recipe for a homemade one?

I’m looking for some information on this drug for my father.  He has
Diabetes (type II/non-insulan dependant at this point).  He’s tried just
about all drugs that are available now, but they don’t seem to be helping.
 He is afraid that he will soon become insulin dependant.

I have read about this drug, but I don’t know much about it.  Is anyone
using it?  If so, how is it working?  I understand it is supposed to be a
very effective treatment for type II.  thanks!

My father is presently suffering from Type II (non-insulin dependent)
diabetes.

He has tried a large variety of drugs, but to no avail.  His doctor has
indicated that he may soon become insulin dependant, and of course he is
very afraid of this.

I have read some about Metformin, and its relatively new introduction here
in the US.  From what I understand, it is supposed to be a very effective
treatment in type II cases.

Does anyone here use it?  Or have any information?  If so, please send me
email regard this.

Has anyone heard of this drug in the treatment of diabetic neuropathy?

Its fairly experimental at the time, but I’d like more info if anyone has
it.

There is a new technology that is being studied in which injections may be
given without needles!  Basically, it involves a machine that emits a very
low frequency signal near the surface of the skin.  The frequency somehow
"vibrates" the skin cells and opens up a small hole that allow the drug
molecules to enter the blood stream.  I don’t know much more about the
technology, but if anyone knows anything about it, or where to get info, I
would appreciate it.

From what I understand, the first application of this technology is going
to probably be insulin injections.
